Mediterranean Towers
In the heart of Rehovot – once known as “The City of Citrus” – a new chapter unfolds for Migdalei Hayam Hatichon’s senior living community. Tasked with crafting a story that would breathe life into the space and reconnect its residents to the outdoors, Yugo and Art Studio rooted the project in a powerful local symbol: the citrus grove.
At the heart of the concept lies the slogan: “It’s time to reap the fruits.” This phrase carries a double meaning – referring both to the orchard motif and to the moment in life when one is invited to enjoy the rewards of a journey well-traveled. It is a call to pause, take a breath, and appreciate the richness that comes after years of cultivation – of life, of community, and of self.

Drawing inspiration from the city’s orchard-filled past, the project’s central courtyard was reimagined as a poetic urban orchard – an improvised “pardes” brought to life through terracotta jars, fragrant trees, and curated textures. At its heart stands a charming old-fashioned juice kiosk, offering fresh-squeezed juices and inviting spontaneous encounters. This new grove became a stage for community rituals: from open-air concerts under the banner “By the Trough in the Orchard”, to seasonal events that celebrate the rhythms of nature and life.

The storytelling extended beyond the garden. Inside the house, custom art pieces and signage continued the orchard motif, turning every corner into a quiet nod to the narrative. The communal outlets were reimagined as vibrant public destinations – open not only to residents but to the surrounding community. Each was branded in the spirit of the citrus grove:
The restaurant became “HaBustan”, a cultivated haven of flavors.
The café, “Café Clementine”, a sweet and sunny meeting point.
And the lounge, “Limoncello”, offering a zestful pause from the everyday.
From textiles to tableware, every visual detail was crafted to tell the same story – of gathering, ripening, and savoring life’s fruits in a space that celebrates beauty, community, and renewal.
